Days after the meeting, the Congress on Thursday announced Siddaramaiah as the next chief minister of Karnataka and DK Shivakumar as the state's sole deputy chief minister.

Speaking at the AICC office in Delhi, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal announced that Shivakumar will continue as the president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee until the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The Congress Legislature Party will meet at 7 pm tonight to formally select the new CLP leader at the KPCC office in Bengaluru.

However, the Congress remained hesitant to talk about the power-sharing formula between Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar. "Sharing power means sharing power with the people of Karnataka," said KC Venugopal. Congress state leader Randeep Singh Surjewala confirmed that along with Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar, several others will be sworn in as ministers on Saturday.

The swearing-in ceremony will be held on May 20 at 12:30 PM at the Kanteerava Stadium in Delhi.

Just after the official announcement, Shivakumar took to Twitter and said that "the welfare of the people is the highest priority".
